COMPOSER NOTES
Ubisoft contacted me in November of 2014 and said they had a game that they thought I might be a good fit for and would I be interested? Of course I said yes and we got the ball rolling. I was told that the game was called “Rabbids Kingdom Battle” and that the team would like to meet me in Paris to discuss the next steps.
I flew over in April of 2015 and was escorted to the very back of the studio through some hefty security doors which I thought was a little strange for a Rabbids game. I met with Davide Soliani in a side room and he then proceeded to show me the game. When he turned on the TV I saw Mario standing there and thought perhaps they had been playing a Mario game while they were waiting for me, then when he picked up the controller he started to move Mario, I said … erm …. What’s this, he said it’s a Mario game, didn’t anyone tell you?
That’s when the fear set in!
How on Earth was I going to compose music for a Mario game and try to follow in the footsteps of Koji Kondo! Davide said that I sat for about an hour very pale faced and he thought I didn’t like the game …….. I later told him that it was pure panic!
Needless to say it’s been a fantastic project to work on, I loved every minute of it!
